Meet Joey. The latest model to join the Body Aware team. Last week, we booked Joey for our monthly editorial shoot featuring the talented photographer Andrew Gleason. As usual, I whipped out my iPad and asked Joey some hard-hitting questions about his life and the modeling industry. Let us know in the comments below if this tall glass of water has what it takes to walk the runways of New York, Paris or Milan.

How long have you been modeling?
Just a little over a year now. I still consider myself a baby in this industry with a lot of great experiences yet to come.
What was your first modeling gig?
My first gig was modeling the Fall 2014 line of Vince on a runway to big department store buyers.
What is your favorite type of modeling?
Definitely runway. I love the high energy atmosphere and I tend to thrive in fast-paced environments.
What’s the craziest photo shoot concept you’ve done?
Honestly, modeling underwear for Body Aware has been the craziest! Most photo shoot opportunities in Arizona are rather conservative so I haven’t had a chance to do any modeling in LA or NYC yet.
Besides Body Aware, What is your dream modeling gig?
Being the cover model for a Burberry campaign and walking in their runway show at NYFW is the dream.
Why do you model?
I’ve always been intrigued by modeling and just decided to try it out once I turned 18. I love the fashion industry and the amazing people I’m constantly meeting; it’s basically my biggest hobby!
Who in the modeling industry inspires you?
I’d say Miranda Kerr and Cara Delevinge are my two female inspirations. They’ve gone so far in their respective careers by constantly changing the modeling game while staying true to their personalities. As for my male inspiration, definitely River Viiperi. He just oozes confidence on the runway and in his numerous ad campaigns.
How do you prepare for a photo shoot?
First, I make sure not to overeat in an attempt to get rid of my semi-permanent food baby. I like to do a lot of cardio the week leading up to it whether it be going for runs or swimming laps. I also do hot yoga a few times to get rid of excess water weight. The day of the shoot, I try to get a full body workout in at the gym. It just makes your muscles more defined.
Do you manscape?
Oh yes! Even when I don’t have a modeling gig, I like to keep my chest, abdomen and nether regions pretty hairless. I let my face get pretty scruffy sometimes, but that’s about it.
How many times a week do you workout and what’s your favorite routine?
I try to workout at least 5 days a week, but it definitely depends on my schedule. During the school year, I can get pretty busy with exams, papers and extracurriculars, only allowing me to go for quick runs a few times a week. At the same time, there are weeks where I get some sort of exercise every day. I usually focus on various lifting routines at the gym, but I like to mix in swimming, running and yoga!
What is your favorite style of underwear?
I’m always wearing boxer briefs. Calvin’s for every day activities and Underarmour when I’m working out!
What do you like about BodyAware?
I like the variation of styles they offer! You can go with an ultra comfortable pair of lounging pants and an edgy man-thong in the same order. Everything I’ve ever tried on is well made, has great quality and is super comfortable especially their satin line.
What is your favorite BodyAware product?
When I tried on the Smooth Satin Pants, it took some convincing for me to take them off. They were the most comfortable piece of clothing I’ve ever worn.
If you had a one-way ticket to Mars, what would you bring?
Honestly, there are so many variables to this question. Will there be food there? Do I need a massive amount of protein bars and multivitamins? Is Mars colonized by this time or should I bring some friends? Have we found a way to breathe on mars or do I need a space suit? I’d say breathing would be my first priority.
Your most embarrassing moment?
I really can’t recall any. I don’t get embarrassed easily.
If you had one super power, what would it be and why?
Being able to teleport! It’s so expensive to fly and I want to see the world so badly. It would also make living in LA a no brainer since I wouldn’t have to worry about the traffic.
Where can we see you next?
You know, on the cover of GQ, Men’s Health, Vogue or on a Sunset Boulevard billboard. Joking. I have no idea! My life is full of surprises, so it’s hard to say.
